He still had a tough lineup to face that day even with Clemente, Sanguillen, and Hebner not playing. Replacements were Davalillo, Milt May, and Maz. Dave Cash played 3B as he did during the first all minority stating lineup game a few weeks later. Other Buc starters were Al Oliver, Willie Stargell, Milt May, and Bob Roberson hittng third through sixth with Jackie Hernandez hitting eighth and SP Bob Johnson hitting ninth.

It was one of the few games Maz started at 2B in 1971 (37). Former Cardinals Vic Davalillo and Nelson Briles appeared for the Bucs while former Pirate Matty Alou and future PIrate Dal Maxvill played for the Cards.

The Cards won 11 - 0. After the game SP Bob Johnson did NOT say "How is a guy to win if his team doesn't score any runs?"
