Game 100: Boston Americans vs. Detroit Tigers

Game #100 of the 1902 season was not kind to the visiting Boston Americans (68-32), as they dropped the game to the Detroit Tigers (58-42) by a score of 10 to 5.

Nixey Callahan (17-8) was the winning pitcher as he limited the opposition to 5 runs (4 earned) on 9 hits, 2 walks, and 1 hit batsman; Game Score of 50. Cy Young (17-6) was knocked out of the game after 6 2/3 innings in which he allowed 9 runs (4 earned) on 9 hits and 3 walks; Game Score of 28. Al Orth pitched the final 1 1/3 innings in relief, allowing 1 unearned run on 2 hits and 1 walk.

Hugh Duffy (3 for 4, Home Run, 2 Runs, 3 RBIs), Tom Daly (1 for 2, Home Run, 1 Run, 3 RBIs, 2 Walks), Charlie Hickman (2 for 4, 2 Runs, 1 RBI, 1 Stolen Base), and Nixey Callahan (2 for 4, Double, 1 Run) were dialed in at the plate. Frank Chance (2 for 4, 1 Run, 1 RBI, 1 Walk, 1 Stolen Base), Cy Young (2 for 3), and Homer Smoot (1 for 5, Double, 2 Runs, 1 Stolen Base) played well in the loss.
