My dream addition to the game would be the ability to act as the coach behind the bench as far as line changes and strategies changes during the game… like a real coach.
It could work by every time your team has possession of the puck and make it to the neutral zone you could have the option to change lines, or swap out specific players, or jumble up line how ever you want and whenever you want. During home games you would have the option to put your players on the ice last if you want to line match, or have a specific player shadow a player on the other team. Or if you want to avoid having one of your player on the ice when the other team has a specific player on the ice. Little frigidity crap like that.
Basically do all the things a real coach can do from behind the bench during a game. That my be a TALL order, so how about straight forward line changes every time you have possession of the puck in the neutral zone, and then add stuff on from there as new editions of the game comes out. (FHM-11, -12, -13…)
Hockey is the only major sport that has player substitutions as play is going on, and a hockey simulation without that is just strange. It is something that makes Hockey unique from the other major sports. It’s a major part of the strategy of the game, in my opinion.
The game as it is has more options then you can shake a stick at, and it is quite an accomplishment from a team with such few resources, and for that I say well done. No it’s not perfect, but what simulation game is? They are by definition simulations and not the real thing so….
I first tried this FHM-4 version of this game and was so bummed out when I tried to do real time line changes that I stopped playing very soon. Then about every year or so I would try and see if this feature was added. I have suggested this a few times in the past, but as of yet to no avail. I still have hope. Not much, but a little.
I have a feeling to add something like this would take a complete overhaul of the game. Is this correct?
Another addition to FHM-10 I’d like to see is free donuts. Everyone likes donuts. You just can’t go wrong with free donuts.
Thanks for your time.
