Game 103: Baltimore Orioles vs. Boston Americans

It was a shaky start to the game, but the Boston Americans (70-33) buckled down and cruised to a 9 to 4 win over the Baltimore Orioles (58-45).

After the rough 1st inning, Noodles Hahn (18-8) settled in to pick up his league-leading 18th win of the season, limiting the opposition to 4 earned runs on 6 hits and 3 walks on 132 pitches to finish with a Game Score of 58. Baltimore starter Wiley Piatt (15-10) lasted only 1 2/3 innings, serving up 8 earned runs on 9 hits and 1 walk; Game Score of -2. Ted Lewis covered the final 6 1/3 innings in relief, allowing 1 earned run on 8 hits and 1 walk.

The Boston hitting-attack was locked in, as they pounded out 17 hits on the day. They were led by Frank Chance (3 for 5, 3 Runs, 1 Stolen Base), Bill Lange (4 for 5, 2 RBIs), Kid Elberfeld (3 for 4, 1 Run, 1 RBI), and John Farrell (3 for 4, 1 Run). The Orioles were benefited by Jimmy Bannon (1 for 4, Homerun, 1 Run, 3 RBIs) and Harry Davis (2 for 4).
