The St. Louis Cardinals have recalled outfielder Corbin Carroll, where he was in an injury rehab, and infielder Wilfredo Tovar from AAA Memphis with left-handed relief pitcher Garrett Williams and outfielder Carlos Carmona being sent to the Redbirds.
A slow start and injuries have hampered Carroll's 2027 season.
He played 21 games/19 starts with the Cardinals hitting just .127 with just one RBI to begin the season before suffering a shoulder injury on May 16 which kept him out for six weeks.
Carroll then spent 50 games/50 starts in Memphis, where he hit .266 with 12 home runs and 36 RBIs.
Signed to a minor-league deal in the off-season, Tovar, 35, has spent the entire season at Memphis where in 81 games/81 starts he has hit .271 with seven home runs and 25 RBIs.
He has 423 games of major league experience, having hit .232 with 19 home runs and 124 RBIs.
Williams, 32, has split time between AAA and the Cardinals in 2027.
He has pitched in eight major league games going 1-1 with one save and a 6.97 ERA.
The 23-year-old Carmona has spent the entire season in the majors getting into 40 games/31 starts and hitting .238 with two home runs and nine RBIs.
