Game 107: Chicago White Sox vs. Boston Americans
Another sweep runs the win streak to 6 games, as the Boston Americans (74-33) prevailed over the Chicago White Sox (44-63) by a 5 to 2 score. The Americans now have a 13 game lead over the 2nd place Detroit Tigers in the American League standings.
Noodles Hahn (19-8) was the winning pitcher, allowing 2 runs (1 earned) on 9 hits to finish with a Game Score of 67. Bill Phillips (0-7) took the loss after giving up 5 runs (4 earned) on 6 hits and 5 walks for a Game Score of 51. To note, Phillips is having a rather interesting year as he was not only named to the All-Star game, he was named PofG despite not having yet recorded a win this season.
This was a much slower day in regards to the hitting-attack, so noteworthy performances are rather limited. With that said, John Farrell (1 for 4, Double, 1 Run, 2 RBIs) and Chick Stahl (1 for 3, 1 Run, 1 RBI, 1 Walk, 2 Stolen Bases) played well. For Chicago, John Anderson (2 for 4, Double, 1 Run, 1 RBI) and Henry Krug (1 for 3, Double, 1 Run) made solid contributions.
Player of the Game: Noodles Hahn (Season: #18 / Career: #43)
