Game 110: Boston Americans vs. Philadelphia Athletics

The Americans (76-34) jumped out to an early 4 to 0 lead and it appeared they would cruise to victory. The Athletics (48-62) though had other plans, as they chipped away at the deficit to finally prevail by a score of 5 to 4.

Red Donahue (11-16) picked up the win by allowing 4 earned runs on 10 hits and 2 walks; Game Score of 50. Sam Leever (18-7) was tagged with the loss after surrendering 5 runs (3 earned) on 6 hits, 4 walks, and 1 wild pitch; Game Score of 53.

Philadelphia was led at the plate by Tom McCreery (2 for 2, Double, Triple, 1 Run, 1 RBI, 2 Walks) and Mike Kelley (2 for 3, Double, 2 RBIs, 1 Walk). Boston got some offense from Fred Clarke (2 for 3, 1 Run, 1 Walk) and Kid Elberfeld (2 for 4, 1 Run, 1 RBI).
