Cards news: August 9 -- Knee injury will sideline OF Robert Neustrom
The St. Louis Cardinals have placed outfielder Robert Neustrom on the 10-day injured list after he was diagnosed with knee tendinitis following a 5-2 win over the Cincinnati Reds on August 8.
Neustrom, 30, has hit .229 with 22 home runs and 28 RBIs in 89 games/87 starts this season for St. Louis.
Taking his place will be 26-year first baseman Phoenix Billings, who will be called up from AAA Memphis.
In 104 games/93 starts with the Redbirds, Billings has hit .343 with 31 home runs and 68 RBIs.
Billings did play in 14 games/9 starts with St. Louis during the 2026 season.
In those games, he hit .194 with two home runs and four RBIs.
The Cardinals acquired Billings with a 10th-round draft pick in the 2024 MLB draft.
