In the NL, the Phillies and Pirates were tied going into game 162 but rookie Tom Candiotti of the Phillies got lit up and the Pirates will face the Braves. The Braves had a 20 game lead at one point, but they lost 18 of their last 30 games and are without 7-time all-star Ray Fosse due to injury and the Pirates are totally healthy.
