We lost the first game at Wrigley and are looking to bounce back.

The Cubs are pitching Dennis Rasmussen (3-8, 4.44).

The Giants have John Burkett (4-7, 5.59).

I have gone 2 for 6 against Rusmussen and am hitting lead off, just as I like it.

I opened up the game by taking a walk.
I went to 2nd on a sac bunt by Robby Thompson and scored on a single by Ruben Sierra.

Giants lead 1-0

In the 2nd Bryce Bernadin scored on a Ryan Klesko single.

I came up with one out and Ryan on 2nd. I struck out.

Ryan scored on a single by Ruben.

Giants lead 3-0

In the 3rd, Travis Freeman turned things around with a 3-run homer.

Game tied 3-3

I led off the 4th by hitting one to the left-centre wall for a double.
I went to 3rd on a wild pitch and scored on a sac fly by Robby.

Giants lead 4-3

In the 5th Freeman tied it up again. This time it was an RBI single scoring Brian Jordan.
Then Bret Barber scored on a Chris Hoiles single.

Matt brought in Mike Scott then and he got the 3rd out. Steve Stanicek also replaced Ryan on a double switch.

Cubs lead 5-4

I came up with one out in the 6th and struck out again.

In the 6th Tim Barker doubled, scoring Jordan and pinch hitter Otis Nixon.
He scored on a Barber triple.

Not an auspicious showing for Mike.

Matt brought in Heathcliff Slocumb, who got the 3rd out.

Cubs lead 8-4

I came up in the 8th with two out and Bryce on 3rd. They brought in Roger McDowell to face me. I hit it into the left field corner for an RBI double.
Robby walked but we were both left.

Cubs lead 8-5

Jeff Mutis took the ball for us in the 8th.

We weren't able to catch up and lost again.

I went 2 for 4 with a pair of doubles, a walk, two runs scored, and an RBI.

After the game both Jeff and Heathcliff were sent to Phoenix and Bobby Thigpen and Mark Ross were called up.

Rob Deer was DFAd as well.
