MLB news: Sept. 16 -- Angels win fourth straight AL West title
A 5-2 loss by the Houston Astros to the Boston Red So on Sept. 16 allowed the Los Angeles Angels to sew up their fourth consecutive American West Division championship.
The Angels (93-53) lead the second-place Astros by 17 games with 16 games left in the regular season.
Los Angeles also seems primed to own the best record in the AL when it is all over. The Angels record is nine games better than AL East leader Toronto.
This will be the fifth consecutive playoff appearance for the defending World Series champion.
