Potential Selections:
The best hope for the Canucks to find a premium talent at nineteen is if talented Russian
Kirill Kaprizov falls that far. If he isn't around they could go with a scoring winger in
Brock Boeser if he's still available. Other targets around that range would be two way center
Joel Eriksson Ek, goaltender
Mackenzie Blackwood, or 6'4" winger
Lawson Crouse. If they want to augment their back end they will either hope
Jakub Zboril drops a bit or take a flyer on an offensive defenseman like
Rasmus Andersson or
Vince Dunn.
With a slew of second round picks, Vancouver should get a lot of swings at potential NHLers. If they don't go for a defenseman in the first round, expect them to take one here.
Kylington and
Carlo are both names that stand out as solid options. Also a little later in the second is
Jonas Siegenthaler or
Caleb Jones, who they are reportedly high on. For offensive talent in the second round there is
Troy Terry if he lasts until their pick, then a bit of a drop off to guys like
Gurianov,
Stenlund and
Forsbacka Karlsson. Goalies who could be slated to go in the second round include
Sam Montembault and
Connor Ingram.
If they last past round two, there are some talented players who for various reasons could be available still in the third or fourth round and the Canucks would do well to take a flyer on one of the likes of
Conor Garland,
Andrew Mangiapane or
Trevor Moore (all smaller players who could make teams regret not drafting them higher down the road). Some high ceiling goalies to consider would be
Alexandar Georgiev, Adin Hill, Dan Vladar and
Karel Vejmelka. Defensive prospects in the middle rounds of the draft who are intriguing include
Connor Clifton, Vladislav Gavrikov and
Neal Pionk. Some scouts are really high on the potential of big bodied center
Nico Sturm, who could still be on the board in the fourth round.
