MLB news: Sept. 22 -- Reds will be back in NL postseason
The Cincinnati Reds have assured themselves a second straight trip to the postseason despite falling 5-1 to the Chicago Cubs on Sept. 23.
At 93-59, the Reds own a seven-game lead over the second-place St. Louis Cardinals in the NL Central Division with 10 games remaining.
A NL Central crown would be the second in a row for the Reds. If not, they would be a wild card.
Cincinnati last reached the World Series in 1991 when it pulled off a shocking sweep of the Oakland Athletics.
