MLB news: Sept. 25 -- Toronto once again rules the AL East
A 3-2 win over the Boston Red Sox allowing the Toronto Blue Jays to earn their third straight American League East Division championship and their fourth straight trip to the playoffs.
With an 87-69 record, the Jays lead second-place Baltimore by 7.5 games with six games left on the schedule.
Toronto are battling the AL Central champion Minnesota Twins for the second seed in the AL playoffs.
The Los Angeles Angels having already sewed up the top spot with their 96-58 record which puts them atop the AL West.
Minnesota (87-68) is a half-game in front of the Jays for the second spot.
Toronto last made the World Series in 1993, when it won the second of consecutive titles.
