Nuka Cup Tournament Finals
The Nuka Cup Tournament is complete, and we have a repeat champion. The Atom Cats won all three games in their series against Diamond City, taking the Cup for the second-straight season. Melon Sanderson was named the MVP, going 7 for 12 with three home runs, three walks, four runs scored, and four RBI.
Third Place Series: County Crossing Bloodbugs (#2 seed in University Point Bracket) vs Roxbury Rad Sox (#1 seed in Roxbury Bracket)
Game 1: County Crossing 7 vs Roxbury 8, 10 inn.
The Bugs' Long Hall had the best game, going 3 for 5 with a double, a home run, two runs scored, and four RBI, but it was the Sox who came out on top. Roxbury's Chris Connexx hit a 10th-inning, two-out, walk-off double, scoring Young Goodman from first after he walked the batter before. Dustin MacCready was 3 for 6 with two runs and two RBI.
Game 2: Roxbury 4 vs County Crossing 7
The Bloodbugs tied up the series thanks to the bat of Cy Thompson who went 3 for 4 with a double, a home run, three runs scored, and three RBI. The Rad Sox's Chris Connexx was 2 for 4 with a double, a run, and two RBI.
Game 3: County Crossing 2 vs Roxbury 0
The Bloodbugs took third place in the 2304 Nuka Cup Tournament in a pitchers' battle. Terrence Artman pitched 8.0 innings of shutout ball, allowing just three hits, walking one, and striking out five. Cy Thompson was 3 for 4 with a double.
Finals: Diamond City Swatters (#2 seed in Fort Hagen Bracket) vs Atom Cats (#2 seed in Concord Bracket)
Game 1: Diamond City 1 vs Atom 3
Atom's Deedee Martinson and the Swatters' Sheng Kawolski battled for six innings, each allowing a single run. The Cats' Earthbound Bussey and Melon Sanderson both went deep in the bottom of the 7th off Diamond City's Raul Separza, lifting Atom to victory and a win away from repeating as the Nuka Cup Tournament champions.
Game 2: Atom 3 vs Diamond City 2, 13 inn.
It took 13 innings, but the Cats clinched the Cup by outscoring the Swatters 2-1 in the final frame. Melon Sanderson led off the inning with a home run, his second in the series and Deer Quickwalker added an insurance run with his own solo blast. Starters Pete Pembroke and City Moore each allowed one run in their no-decisions.
Game 3: Diamond City 0 vs Atom 6
The Cats completed the sweep by shutting down the Swatters. Bow Rome pitched 5.1 innings of shutout ball before giving way to Matt Rodrigue and Ryan Radaway to close out the game. Rabbit Forest was 3 for 4 with a home run, a run, and two RBI. Melon Sanderson added a home run, going deep in all three games and the fifth straight game going back to the semifinal round against Roxbury.
