I have tried pitch-by-pitch, and no doubt it is realistic; but it just takes too much time. I might use one pitch until the late innings with the game on the line. One compromise of sorts is to use the widget for pitch location, speed, type in one-pitch mode. Then you can see how the pitcher is throwing, and what pitch the batter hit. On defense, you can tell if your guy is hanging curve balls, or not getting them over, of too many fastballs up in the zone; all useful information to the manager and pitching coach.
