Why, just why, is Pete hitting outside of the #4 hole again? "You want your best hitter to bat more oft-" Ah shut up! You want your trebuchet to bat with somebody on base, and as many as possible. The Mets have a steady sad rotation of D.J. Stewart, Jonathan Araúz, Tim Locastro (he lives!) and Mark Vientos batting eighth/ninth. Base runners among those: unlikely.
Gary mentioned something interesting in their 7-4 loss yesterday, that if the Mets finish in the bottom six, they can keep their draft pick, while otherwise, because their payroll exceeds the GDP of North Korea, they would drop 10 spots in the draft.
So that's why Pete isn't batting fourth again?
