Cards news: April 26 -- SP McGreevy sent to AAA Memphis; Alton Davis called up
The St. Louis Cardinals have optioned right-handed starting pitcher Michael McGreevy to AAA Memphis and called up left-handed starting pitcher Alton Davis from the Redbirds.
McGreevy, 27, has made five starts this season -- his most recent a two-inning outing against Colorado where he gave up six runs -- and has gone 1-4 with a 9.95 ERA.
Last season, McGreevy got the chance to start 15 games for St. Louis and went 5-3 with a 3.92 ERA.
Davis competed with McGreevy for spot in the rotation during spring training with McGreevy owning a slight edge although both pitched well.
In five starts at Memphis this season, Davis has gone 2-2 with a 4.72 ERA.
Davis, 24, made the Cardinals roster out of spring training in 2027 as a reliever but struggled.
He pitched in 24 games going 0-1 with a 4.38 ERA.
