Well, the Boston Beaneaters ace put any doubts to rest as he surpassed expectations by taking home the National League Platinum Pitcher award. On the season, Dowling posted a 22-10 record with a league-leading 1.65 ERA in 311 1/3 innings in 38 game appearances (34 starts). Dowling finished with a 1.13 WHIP, a .261 BABIP, 179 ERA+, and 5.1 WAR.
