Cards news: July 13 -- Roster moves -- OF Lausch back to minors, OF Carroll and SP Sequera called up
The St. Louis Cardinals have returned outfielder Jack Lausch to AAA Memphis and recalled outfielder Corbin Carroll and starting pitcher Leonel Sequera.
Lausch, 24, began the season as the Cardinals starting center fielder and enjoyed a good April -- hitting .266 with five home runs and 12 RBIs -- but has slumped ever since.
He is currently hitting .195 with six home runs and 22 RBIs in 71 games/67 starts with St. Louis.
This is the second time Lausch has been sent to Memphis.
In his earlier tenure with the Redbirds, he hit .286 with three homers and eight RBIs in 11 games/11 starts.
Getting called back up from AAA is the 27-year-old Carroll, who has split time between St. Louis and Memphis.
With the Cardinals, he has played in eight games hitting .192 with one home run and six RBIs.
At AAA, Carroll has played in 29 games and hit .380 with four home runs and 16 RBIs.
The 22-year-old Sequera is being called to the majors for the first time. He will be taking the spot in the rotation vacated when Tink Hence suffered a career-ending elbow injury.
Signed out of the Dominican Republic in 2022, Sequera has made 18 starts at AAA this season going 6-3 with a 4.15 ERA.
