Hamhuis suspended, roster moves follow
The Canucks will be without the services of Dan Hamhuis for the next five games after the NHL's DPOS handed down a stiff suspension for his hit on Dustin Brown of the Kings.
To shore up the blueline in his absence offseason signing Marc-Andre Gragnani will get his first regular season games in a Canucks sweater. Gragnani has 19 points in 35 games for the AHL's Utica Comets. To make room for him, Dustin Jeffrey is being placed on waivers and reassigned to Utica. Jeffrey was an important energy piece for Dale Hunter in the bottom six last season but he hasn't clicked nearly as well with new head coach Dan Byslma.
