Game 4: Boston Americans vs. Washington Senators

Well, it wasn't pretty but at the end of the day the Boston Americans (2-2) did just enough to pick up the 12 to 9 victory over the Washington Senators (2-2). Sam Leever (1-0) was awarded the win despite allowing 9 runs (7 earned) on 14 hits and 2 walks in 7 innings of play; Game Score of 17. Newly acquired reliever Jose Ramos (1 save) kept the game in check over the final 2 innings of play to earn his first save of the season and career. Carl Lundgren (0-1) allowed 11 runs (7 earned) on 12 hits and 2 walks in 4 2/3 innings of play; Game Score of 5. Alex Pearson pitched the next 3 1/3 innings in which he allowed 1 unearned run on 3 hits before turning the ball over to Rube Waddell for a final scoreless inning.

With a combined 31 hits, there were several outstanding hitting performances from the players. For the Americans, Bill Lange (2 for 5, Homerun, 1 Run, 5 RBIs), John Farrell (2 for 5, 2 Runs, 3 RBIs), Frank Chance (2 for 4, Double, 1 Run, 2 RBIs, 1 Walk), and Jiggs Donahue (2 for 5, Triple, 2 Runs) led the way. The Senators were led by Cy Seymour (3 for 5, Double, Triple, 2 Runs, 4 RBIs), Doc Casey (4 for 6, Double, 2 Runs, 1 RBI), and Danny Green (3 for 5, 1 Run, 1 RBI) played well in the loss.
