Jan 3rd, 2016 - Chicago's Dustin Byfuglien had a dominant third period in their come from behind win against Ottawa. Down 5-3 going into the third, Byfuglien drew the Blackhawks to within one on the powerplay. He then scored again midway through the frame to even it up. He completed the natural hat trick with four minutes to go when he scored the game winner. He finished with 3 goals and an assist on the night.
Jan 6th, 2016 - Boston re-signs 27 year old star winger and current NHL scoring leader Brad Marchand for two more years at an absolute bargain of $5.23M per year.
Jan 10th, 2016 - Philadelphia defenseman Erik Gustafsson was suspended for three games for an incident in last night's game against the Islanders.
Jan 11th, 2016 - Detroit center Pavel Datsyuk signs a one year extension for $2.98M. Datsyuk has 34 points through 43 games.
Jan 14th, 2016 - Colorado claims D Marc-Andre Gragnani off waivers from the Canucks. Gragnani has an assist in five NHL games this year.
Jan 14th, 2016 - The struggling Sharks have made a move to shore up their blueline, acquiring Jason Garrison from the Lightning. TBL acquires RW David Clarkson (41gp, 10-6-16, 57pim, -1) and D Dakota Mermis (22yo, AHL 40gp, 5-16-21, +1); SJS acquires LD Jason Garrison (19gp, 2-3-5, 6pim, +5). San Jose's acquisition of Borowiecki earlier this year made Clarkson's grit expendable, so they move him and a middling defensive prospect to pick up a veteran and capable NHL defenseman in Garrison. Garrison has a heavy shot and a lot of NHL experience. Clarkson did have ten goals this year and was on pace for twenty. Los Angeles wins the trade.
Jan 28th, 2016 - Buffalo defenseman Tyler Myers was involved in a car crash and sustained serious injuries. He will be out indefinitely as he recovers.
