MLB news: Sept. 25 -- Twins earn chance to defend World Series title
The defending World Series champion Minnesota Twins will get a chance to repeat after they earned their fifth consecutive trip to the postseason with a 6-2 win over the New York Yankees.
At 90-67, the Twins own a 1.5-game lead over the Kansas City Royals in the American League Central Division with five games remaining in the regular season.
The best overall record in the AL also remains up for grabs as AL East-leading Boston is 92-64 and the Los Angeles Angels top the AL West at 90-65.
A division title would be the second in a row for Minnesota, which defeated the Giants in the 2027 World Series.
