Cards news: Feburary 1 -- Nido agrees to one-year contract
The St. Louis Cardinals have announced that catcher Thomas Nido has agreed to a one-year contract.
After serving as a backup to starting catcher Drew Romo in the 2028, Nido decided to test the free-agent waters.
In the end, he decided to return to St. Louis, signing a one-year deal worth $1.4 million.
A year ago, as the backup to the three-time Gold Glove winner Romo, the 34-year-old Nido made 35 starts/ 46 games during which he hit .225 with two home runs and 15 RBIs.
For his career, Nido has played in 311 major league games/202 starts, and he has hit .225 with 15 home runs and 90 RBIs.
