The St. Louis Cardinals have announced the hiring of Bill Mueller as their hitting coach. He replaces Reggie Sanders, who has been with the team since mid-season of 2028.
Despite their 18-12 start, the Cardinals have ranked near the bottom of National League teams in terms of hitting.
The team hit .233 with Sanders as hitting coach in 2028 and have seen it dip to .212 this season, which ranks 15th in the NL.
They also sit 13th in runs scored (114) and 12th in home runs (33).
Mueller is seen as a coach who can help power hitters.
