NHL Ticker March/April
Mar 4th, 2016 - D Roman Josi signed an extension with the Nashville Predators for four years at an AAV of $5.05M. The deal comes with a full no movement clause. Josi comes in as an absolute bargain, just entering his prime at 25 and co-running the league's best powerplay. He has 16 goals and 61 total points through 65 games this season and has established himself this year as one of the NHL's premier offensive defensemen.
Mar 14th, 2016 - San Jose has extended star defenseman Brent Burns (18-28-46, +16) for two more years at an AAV of $6.21M.
Mar 31st, 2016 - Pittsburgh star Sidney Crosby (31-39-70) earned NHL player of the month for March. Pekka Rinne (2.16gaa, .919sv%, 9so) of the Predators was the goalie of the month.
Apr 2nd, 2016 - New Jersey Devils centre Adam Henrique will be suspended for six games following a checking to the head match penalty in their game last night. With only three games left in the season this means he will also be missing their first three playoff games.
Apr 3rd, 2016 - the Colorado Avalanche announce an extension with Tyson Barrie for the next four years at an average annual value of $3.6M. Barrie has fifteen goals and fifty six total points this season, but questions about his defensive game are somewhat supported by his minus four rating while playing for a playoff team.
Apr 5th, 2016 - Brent Seabrook of the Blackhawks will miss the rest of the season and the first three games of the post-season with a suspension after a dangerous head shot last night.
