The St. Louis Cardinals and outfielder Jordan Walker have agreed to a six-year extension which will pay him $135 million
The contract includes a player opt out after the 2024 season and a team option for 2035.
Walker, 27, broke into the majors during the 2023 season and while he has struggled to hit for average. He has always hit for power.
He was selected as the MVP of the team's 2025 World Series victory over the Los Angeles Angels.
Walker appeared on the way to the best regular season of his career in 2029 before experiencing a lengthy slump in to begin August.
For the season, he his hitting .261 with 37 home runs and 88 RBIs in 102 games/100 starts.
For his career, Walker has played in 731 games/708 starts during which he has hit .215 with 210 home runs and 473 RBIs.
