Agree with you... having a sense of humor makes it much easier to get through life.

Laughter is a good medicine.

Overall, Bill Veeck was good for baseball, but on occasions, even he admitted that he went too far.

The MLB owners, commisioners, league presidents and powers that be really didn't treat Bill Veeck fairly... they didn't allow him to move the St. Louis Browns to Milwaukee, Baltimore or Los Angeles out of spite... the Browns were stepchilds in St. Louis... the fans loved the successful Cardinals, but the team under Fred Saigh was easy to compete against... the Cards were bad at this time and did little to keep up old Sportsmen's Park and promote the team... they didn't much to make the team any better... the Cardinals were in financial trouble... in addition Anheuser Busch was going to buy the Cardinals... Veeck believed he could eventually beat and outdraw the poorly-managed and poorly-operated Cardinals because they had really bad owners, but he couldn't outspend the Budweiser folks... Veeck knew he could not compete with their endless supply of money... that's why he wanted to move his team... the owners punished him and wouldn't let him move, although they allowed Lou Perini to move the Boston Braves to Milwaukee... and later the Dodgers and Giants to the West Coast.
