MLB news: Oct. 4 -- Twins will defend back-to-back titles as wild card9+
The two-time defending World Series champion Minnesota Twins will get a chance to defend their championships, but they'll have to do it as a wild card after clinching a postseason berth with a 9-4 win over the Cleveland Indians.
At 88-72, the Twins have already been eliminated from the American League Central Division race by the Kansas City Royals who sit three games in front of them with two games remaining.
The Twins could be the No. 1 seed among the wild cards as they lead Toronto by two games.
The playoff berth is the sixth straight for Minnesota. They last qualified as a wild card in 2027.
