MLB news: Oct. 8 -- Toronto makes playoffs for sixth straight season
It didn't happen until Game 162, but the Toronto Blue Jays are back in the playoffs for the sixth consecutive season following an 11-6 win over the Tampa Bay Rays in their final game of the season.
The Jays (87-75) will be in the postseason as a wild card facing the Minnesota Twins in the opening round.
Toronto finished 5.5 games behind Baltimore in the American League East Division.
This will be the second straight season the Jays have made the playoffs as a wild card.
Toronto has not made the World Series since 1993, when it finished off back-to-back titles with a victory over the Philadelphia Phillies.
