MLB news: Oct. 8 -- Brewers will be wild cards in NL playoffs
With a 4-3 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates, the Milwaukee Brewers clinched a wild-card berth in the National League playoffs.
At 86-76, the Brewers finished third in the National League Central Division, some 10-games in back of the Cincinnati Reds.
But that was good enough to earn them the No. 3 wild card, as they finished two games in front of the Arizona Diamondbacks.
This is the second consecutive year the Brewers have reached the playoffs via the wild card.
The last time Milwaukee made the World Series was 1982, when it lost in seven games to the St. Louis Cardinals.
