Cards news: Oct. 17 -- Broken finger will end season for C Romo; Crooks called up from AAA Memphis
The St. Louis Cardinals have placed catcher Drew Romo on the postseason injured list after he suffered a broken finger during a 5-4 loss to Cincinnati in Game 2 of their National League Division Series.
Romo, 28, played in 127 games during the regular season hitting .202 with five home runs in 36 RBIs.
He had started all seven of their postseason games, hitting .190 with no homers or RBIs.
Getting called up from AAA Memphis is Jimmy Crooks, who has never played in the majors.
The 28-year-old split time between AAA Memphis and AA Springfield this season hitting .204 with 14 home runs and 23 RBIs.
Veteran catcher Tomas Nido is expected to be the starting catcher in Romo's absence.
