2027 IPA Pro Cup Final Series
Southport Shocks Crystal Lake 13-2 In Game One
No one would have thought it... the weak-hitting Southport Sun Sox shocked everybody in the Islands with a 13-2 demolition of favored Crystal Lake in game one of the 2027 IPA Pro Cup Finals... the Sun Sox beat the Crushers at their own game by pounding them for 16 hits... Southport also got a strong performance from Al Laclair, too... Laclair has struggled in the postseason after winning 22 games in the regular season... but this time around, Laclair (2-3 3.74) was at the top of his game... he hurled a complete game, held Crystal Lake to 2 runs and 7 hits, while fanning 5 and walking 3.
1B Kyle Ross (.245) led the Sun Sox at the plate with 3 hits, 3 runs and 5 RBIs in the rout, cracking a 2-run homer and a double... CF Rick Cabrini (.417) added 4 hits and scored 4 times... plus LF Alton Queeg (.227), SS Scoop Adams (.226) and C Luis Alvarado (.161) drove in 2 runs each... Alvarado also homered for Southport... Crusher starter T. D. Burnham (4-1 2.58), previously unbeaten in 4 games, never had a chance... the Sun Sox shelled him for 8 runs and 7 hits in just 3-plus innings
