Cards news: March 8 -- C Adrian Sugastey out up to five months with broken elbow
The St. Louis Cardinals have learned that catcher Adrian Sugastey will miss up to five months with a broken elbow he suffered in an 11-5 win over the Washington Nationals on March 8.
Signed in the offseason as the probable backup to Gold Glove starting catcher Drew Romo, Sugastey, 28, has spent the last three seasons as the starting catcher for the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Last season, he played in 125 games hitting .161 with seven home runs and 33 RBIs.
For his career, Sugastey, who has also played in the majors for San Francisco, the Los Angeles Dodgers and Arizona, is a .198 career hitter with 14 homers and 126 RBIs in 468 games/454 starts.
