May 28-29, 2034: at Boston (2)

A new nadir for the undermanned Rays as they dropped a pair at Fenway to 12-33 Boston and scored only 3 runs combined in the two games.

One run on three hits is all they got in the opener as they lost 5-1 to Boston and that run came in the first inning. David Marin (0-1) wasn't very good at 3.2 3 3 3 2 1 and had to leave with back spasms while Joe Stack's RBI double was the sum total of the offense.

Transaction: The first of our walking wounded came off the IL as OF Bobby Marin was activated and Rocky Corneill optioned back to Durham.

Tampa Bay was more competitive in the second game but still lost it 3-2 to the Red Sox. Once again they got on the board in the first on a Claus Hoppenbrouwers RBI double but Nick Wallerstedt (2-2) gave up a 3-run homer in the bottom inning. He didn't allow anything else and finished 5 5 3 3 4 3 but the bats only managed an Alex Rivas RBI single the rest of the way and lost again.

Team record: 27-22. Toronto won one of their games so the division deficit grows to 4 1/2. Next up: Back home for 3 against Texas.

MLB News: The Dodgers got consecutive complete-game shutouts from former Rays James Hays and Kevin DiCostanzo the last two nights.
