It was our #5 James Chamberlain against their #3 Sandy Whitol. We scored in the bottom of the 1st on a Lynn ground out, then Armstead cracked a 2-run double in the 5 to go up 3--0 as Chamberlain was cruising. But he gave up 5 straight hits to open the 6th and suddenly it was tied. Steve Busby saved the day retiring 3 straight White Sox with the bases loaded to keep it 3-3.
Roy Howell put us back in front 5-3 with his 97th and 98th RBI and Bombo Rivera added a single and we led 6-3. Lawrence Bashaw pitched 2 perfect innings and we took the West.
Now we have the Blue Jays who are 1st in runs but 10th in runs allowed and they are without Eric Davis and Gary Carter due to injuries.
