The top vote getter in the American League this year was Cleveland Naps st baseman Ed Delahanty with 201,359 votes. The closest race was in the Starting Pitcher category with just 5,738 separating Rube Waddell and Christy Mathewson. The Boston Americans had two players receive the most votes for their respective positions; catcher Frank Chance and 2nd baseman John Farrell.
