The Red Wings won another Cup in 1948-49, while the Eagles won another in 1949-50. I'm hoping my current Eagles can win at least one more Cup before we start having to look for places that the Eagles might need to move to so that the Blues can start themselves out in St. Louis in 1967-68. Am willing to entertain reasonable enough suggestions as to where I could move them to by the necessary time, by the way, folks.

However, we will now be moving forward without a version of my paternal grandfather playing at all for us from now on, as of the end of the NHL 1950 season, it seems. I am hoping that we can repeat as Stanley Cup champions in 1950-51, of course, but it's almost certainly going to be very difficult, if not impossible, I think, to repeat our 59-4-7 record in the most recent regular season, plus eight wins out of ten games in the postseason, with a Cup Finals win against the Schooners in six games.

Tony Esposito, although he probably missed the first week or so of the regular season, plus probably part, if not all, of the preseason, really dominated things in the net for us, while we scored more than three times as many goals as our goaltenders gave up during the regular season. We outscored our opponents during the regular season 327 to 108, it seems to me. Even with at least one of our key players missing substantial time during the season, most likely, we still largely dominated with a very strong offense, and basically ran away with things in the regular season, with at least one or two unbeaten streaks of ten or more games during it. I believe our longest unbeaten streak during the regular season was something like 24 games, with at least one tie mixed in along the way of that streak.

Tony Esposito is at 390 wins so far in his 16-season career, with 59 wins, it seems, this past season. He is 34 now, and I expect that if he can stay healthy, and we can win enough, he could very well get at least 500 wins for himself by the end of his career. He is still a four-star player at present, and his backup hasn't really played yet, if at all. He's stayed quite healthy for us in his career, generally, so I think he could very well end up somewhere north of 500 or 550 wins by the time he's done, if that still largely remains the case and the Eagles do well enough until he finally finishes his career here, somehow.

As for NHL career records at the present time, Guy Lafleur of the Halifax Schooners currently has more than 1300 points, with nearly 600 goals and more than 750 assists in his career. He will be 35 this next season, and possibly shows no sign of slowing down at present, I think, even as a three-star player. I think it highly likely he'll finish his career with more than 700 goals and at least 900 assists by the time he's done playing.

For those who want to know how Wayne Gretzky did here in the relevant save, he started out at 26, it seems, and played until he was 40. Even so, he still won 9 Harts, 2 Conn Smythes, 7 Maurice Richards Awards, 10 Art Ross Awards, 3 Plus-Minus Awards, and 4 Cups with the Montreal Wanderers, in a career spanning from 1917-18 to 1930-31, in any case.

As for Mark Messier, he played his whole career for Detroit from 1928-29 to 1948-49. His awards are 8 Harts, 1 Smythe, 4 Selkes, 2 Richards, 3 Rosses, 1 Plus-Minus, and 5 Cups. Like Gretzky, who had his number 99 retired by the Wanderers, Messier's 7 was retired by Detroit, for your information. I think he was a major reason why the Red Wings won so many Cups in his career, in truth, or at least for most of them, anyway.

Will write much more sometime later, as time permits and all, Lord willing and all, I'm quite sure. I still don't know what I'm likely going to have to do to keep the game from automatically changing the Canadiens' home arena every year on July 1st, until I put it back as it should be from where the game is putting them now. Every season, for a while now, once the calendar changes over in July, I've likely had to put them back in the Montreal Forum from where the game puts them in the Limers' arena, for some yet-unknown reason or reasons, unfortunately. Any ideas on just how I might actually be able to keep them from doing that from now on in the future, perhaps, folks? It's getting to be rather annoying having to put the Canadiens back in the Forum every season, in truth. CD out.
