Roxbury, Jamaica Plain to Nuka Cup Finals
The Roxbury Rad Sox and Jamaica Plain Red Rockets repeat their 2304 South Charles Association Finals in the 2305 Nuka Cup Finals.
Both the Sox and Rockets swept their Semifinals series. Roxbury swept Nordhagen Beach, while Jamaica Plain swept FHE. Here's a breakdown of each series.
22 March
Nordhagen Beach 5 at Roxbury 6
In a back-and-forth affair, the Rad Sox scored three runs on a Chris Connexx home run in the bottom of the 7th to claim the first game.
Both starting pitchers, Tommy Beach of the Party Boys (6 earned runs allowed) and Whokill Poole of the Sox (5 earned runs allowed) struggled to keep the offenses in check.
Dustin Mart of the Boys hit two home runs, a two-run shot in the 4th inning and a three-run bomb in the 6th, to be named player of the game.
Duncan MacCready of the Rad Sox went 2 for 4 with two doubles and two runs scored to lead his team's offense.
Jamaica Plain 8 at FHE 7
The Red Rockets took an 8-2 lead into the bottom of the 6th and held off a late surge by the Yao Guai to claim the first game in the series.
Both Bubb Islander and Ayag Mour had three hits apiece for Jamaica Plain to lead their offensive surge. Islander was 3 for 5 with a home run, two runs scored, and three RBI. Mour singled thrice and scored a run.
Chris Deathclaw earned the wins, allowing four earned runs on six hits with two walks and two strikeouts in 6.1 innings.
23 March
Jamaica Plain 4 at FHE 1
Tim Fusin pitched 6.2 innings of shutout ball, giving up five hits, walking two, and striking out one to earn the victory.
Bulleye Shooterson was 3 for 3 with a walk and two runs scored. Ayag Mour went 2 for 4 with a double and two RBI.
Jonathan Abern's 8th-inning RBI double off Rockets' reliever T-Bone Heagy drove in the only run for the Yao Guai.
With the win, Jamaica Plain clinched the series to send them to the Nuka Cup Finals.
Nordhagen Beach 3 at Roxbury 5, 10 inn.
Purple Gupta's two-run bomb off the Boy's David "AntAgonist" Kidd in the bottom of the 10th sealed the game and series for the defending CBO champion Roxbury team.
The Sox took an early 1-0 lead on the Party Boys before falling behind 3-1 in the top of the 4th.
Both Nordhagen Beach's Matt Ranger and Roxbury's Gwinnett Southie surrendered three runs in a starting role.
Both Dustin Mart and Michael Fogcrawler went deep for the Boys.
24 March
Jamaica Plain 7 at FHE 3, 14 inn.
The Red Rockets completed the sweep by defeating FHE in a high-scoring 14th inning.
With the Yao Guai's Daddy-O Sixx on the mound to start the top of the inning, the Rockets started slow but finished fast. After Bubb Islander singled to lead off, Hid Matsumoto grounded into a fielder's choice and Steve Baron struck out. David Driftwood walked and then Bulleye Shooterson singled in Matsumoto for a 3-2 lead. Notorious Fugate then doubled in Driftwood. Ronald Raygun then reached on an error, allowing Shooterson to score for the 5-2 advantage. T-Bone Heagy then hit an RBI single to chase Sixx for Kamal Similton. Dan Ackerman then hit an RBI single for the fifth run scored and a 7-2 lead.
Both Heagy and Will Rope struggled to get outs in the bottom of the inning but eventually only gave up a single run for the final of 7-3.
Nordhagen Beach 4 at Roxbury 5
The Rad Sox scored three runs in the bottom of the 8th to sweep the Party Boys in what could be a 2305 Sole Survivor Series preview.
The Boys' Beachboy Nut took the mound in the 8th with his team up 4-2. Roxbury's Deerlord Fugivmee singled and Chris Connexx walked to start off the inning. Donn Mattingley then hit a three-run home run to give the Sox a 5-4 advantage.
John Irwin then pitched a three-up-three-down 9th to give the Rad Sox the series sweep before they meet Jamaica Plain in the 2305 Nuka Cup Finals.
