Game 75: St. Louis Browns vs. Boston Americans

A nice win for the 5,362 hometown teams to enjoy, as the Boston Americans (39-36) beat the St. Louis Browns (32-43) by a score of 5 to 1. The victory moved Boston back into sole possession of 3rd place in the American League standings; 8 games behind the league-leading Philadelphia Athletics (47-28).

Noodles Hahn (8-8) pitched fine game, allowing 1 earned run on 7 hits and 1 walk; Game Score 74. Tom Hughes (6-11) took the loss after serving up 5 runs (3 earned) on 3 hits, 3 walks, and a hit batsman; Game Score 62.

While the Boston hitters struggled most of the day to get the ball in play, Chick Stahl (1 for 3, Triple, 2 Runs, RBI), Jiggs Donahue (1 for 3, 2 RBIs), and Bill Lange (1 for 4, Homerun, Run, RBI) played well. For the Browns, George Magoon (1 for 3, Double, RBI, Walk), Patsy Donovan (2 for 4), and Bill Hassamaer (2 for 4) contributed despite the loss.
