The only way at the moment is to send him back to a league that allows players to leave for the WJC (e.g., the CHL leagues for Canadian players.) Unfortunately, that would have the effect of losing the player for the rest of the year because he can't be recalled from the CHL team. At one point we looked at a more flexible system for allowing those players to be "volunteered" to the national team, but it wound up being a little overcomplicated to implement for a relatively small effect. I'll see if I can think of a better way of doing it (maybe by making it an option for human-run teams only.)
