Ignore what I said in the previous post about Charlton being a snub; for some reason I missed him when I looked at the rosters initially. He is our only position player representative while Marlette gets his customary nod and the bullpen back-end of Smith and Lewis are well-deserved all-stars. It's the 6th appearance for both Marlette and Lewis, Smith's 2nd and Charlton's first.
Former Rays selected include Baldino, Tosado and Scavone in the AL with DiCostanzo, Hays, Dettmer, Devon Williams, Strickland, Arturo Gutierrez and Carlow in the NL.
The HR Derby:
Congrats to Danny Charlton, a rare Tampa Bay winner of the competition among all my saves, as he beat out former Ray Billy Carlow.
The game:
A tight one which saw Marlette and Smith each pitch perfect innings with Marlette striking out the side in the start. Lewis was unused, and Charlton popped out in his pinch-hit appearance.
