The proverbial
Hot Stove is starting to heat up, as teams are showing more activity heading towards the July 31st trade deadline.
In the latest roster movements, the
New York Highlanders sent reliever
Jim Fairbank (#36 overall ranked prospect) to the
Cincinnati Reds in exchange for veteran pitcher
Bill Whitrock. This trade makes no sense for me, as the
Highlanders don't add any meaningful value to the rotation and they are giving up a very promising prospect. On a rather selfish note, I was in talks with the
Highlanders to land
Fairbank but my delay in pulling the trigger caused me to miss out. This really frustrates me!
The other trade of the day saw the
Detroit Tigers send pitcher
Tad Quinn (#41 overall ranked prospect) to the
New York Giants for pitchers
Ed Fisher and
Kaiser Wilhelm. On balance this one makes some sense, as the
Tigers get some rotation help while the Giants get a solid prospect in
Quinn.
