Game 89: Boston Americans vs. Washington Senators

Led by the strong pitching performance of ace Rube Waddell, the Washington Senators (39-50) played well today as they topped the Boston Americans (47-42) by a score of 8 to 2.

Rube Waddell (13-12) had a fine outing, allowing 2 earned runs on 6 hits and 3 walks, striking out 8 to finish with a Game Score of 72. Sam Leever (12-9) was tagged with the loss after serving up 8 runs (5 earned runs) on 15 hits, 1 walk, and 1 wild pitch in 6 2/3 innings of play; Game Score 19. Jake Boyd pitched the final 1 1/3 innings of scoreless ball to finish the game.

The Senators saw the ball well tonight, led by Danny Green (3 for 4, Double, Run, RBI, Stolen Base), Jack Doyle (3 for 4, 2 Runs, RBI), Duff Cooley (2 for 5, 3 Runs), and Kid Gleason (3 for 4, RBI). The Americans' limited offense came from Dave Brain (2 for 4, Homerun, Run, 2 RBIs) and Fred Clarke (2 for 3).
