Growing up just mere minutes from Palace of the Fans stadium, Ambrose Puttmann longed dream playing for his hometown Cincinnati Reds. With the deal reached between the Reds and the St. Louis Cardinals, that dream became reality today. With the trade, Cincinnati received Puttmann and minor league infielder Frank Gatins while sending pitcher Chappie McFarland to the Cardinals. I don't know if this was a case of the Cardinals applying the "buy low, sell high" principle coming off of Puttmann's recent Player of the Week honors, so it will be very interesting to see if this trade makes sense in the long run.
