Game 90: Boston Americans vs. Washington Senators

A costly 8th-inning error by third-baseman Dave Brain proved to be a difference maker, as the Philadelphia Athletics (54-36) topped the Boston Americans (47-43) by a score of 4 to 3. This was a missed opportunity for the Americans to gain ground in the playoff race.

Earl Moore (14-8) pitched a solid game, allowing 3 earned runs on 10 hits, 3 walks, and 1 wild pitch; Game Score 56. Noodles Hahn (10-10) was tagged with the loss after he permitted 4 runs (3 earned) on 6 hits and 4 walks; Game Score 54.

Philadelphia's offense was powered by John Titus (2 for 3, Double, 2 Runs) and Billy Clingman (2 for 4, RBI), while the Americans received help at the plate from Bill Lange (3 for 5, Double, Run), Chick Stahl (2 for 5, Double, Run, RBI), and Frank Chance (2 for 4, Triple, Run, RBI).
