Game 95: Chicago White Sox vs. Boston Americans

The solid pitching of Jesse Tannehill powered the Boston Americans (51-44) to a 9 to 1 victory over the Chicago White Sox (37-58) to complete the 3-game sweep.

Jesse Tannehill (16-8) was dialed in as he limited the opposition to 1 earned run on 5 hits, 1 walk, and 1 wild pitch; Game Score 75. The outing lowered Tannehill's ERA to 1.99 on the season. Bill Carrick (8-13) was tagged with the loss after allowing 7 earned runs on 11 hits and 2 walks in 6 2/3 innings of play; Game Score 23. Dad Hale was called in to cover the final 1 1/3 innings of play though he did allow 2 additional earned runs on 3 hits and 1 walk.

The Americans had several nice hitting performances on the day, led by Fred Clarke (3 for 4, 2 Doubles, Triple, 2 Runs, RBI), Chick Stahl (3 for 4, Triple, 2 Runs, 2 RBIs), Jiggs Donahue (3 for 4, Triple, Run, 2 RBIs), and Dave Brain (2 for 3, Run, RBI, Walk, Stolen Base). The White Sox were led by Harry Bay (2 for 4, Run, Stolen Base) and Hughie Jennings (2 for 3, Double, RBI, Walk).
