Game 98: Boston Americans vs. St. Louis Browns
On a blustery night, the 70 minute rain delay could not stop Noodles Hahn from shutting the opposition down, as the Boston Americans (52-46) topped the St. Louis Browns (42-56) by a 3 to 0 score.
Noodles Hahn (12-10) scattered 6 hits while striking out 4 batters to complete the shutout on 127 total pitches; Game Score 79. Weldon Henley (11-13) was tagged with the loss after allowing 3 earned runs on 2 hits and 5 walks in 8 innings of play; Game Score 66. Patsy Flaherty covered the final inning of play, giving up 1 hit and 1 walk in his scoreless effort.
There wasn't much offense coming from the Americans lineup, but when it mattered Jiggs Donahue (1 for 3, Triple, 3 RBIs) Frank Chance (1 for 3, Run, Walk, Stolen Base), and John Farrell (0 for 1, Run, 3 Walks) came up big. Hughie Hearne (2 for 4, Double) played well in the loss.
Player of the Game: Noodles Hahn (Season: #11 / Career: #56)
