Boston Tops Cincinnati Again, 4-0
The Boston Americans got an exceptional performance from starter Cy Young, who silenced the Cincinnati offense en route to a 4-0 shutout win in Game 2 of the World Series today. Thrice as Nice: Boston On Verge of Sweep after Walk-off Win
The Boston Americans and the Cincinnati Reds went into extra innings at Huntington Avenue Grounds today, with Boston emerging victorious. The 6-5 win means the Americans are now a game away from sweeping the Reds from the World Series. Despite the loss, Reds left-hander Win Kellum had a strong outing in which he threw 11.0 innings of 9-hit ball. The win gives Boston a 3-0 advantage in the best-of-7 series.
With the game on the line, Jimmy Collins came to bat in the bottom of the 13th. And the Boston third baseman came through, cracking a run-scoring single off Tom Walker, the Cincinnati pitcher.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Collins told the Boston Times.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Huntington Avenue Grounds in Boston.
